Medications

Here is something you probably did not know -- almost all the major drug companies offer assistance programs for people who do not have insurance, and who just cannot afford the medications.  Believe me, I know, I've been there.  Your psychiatrist usually has to refer you, but sometimes you can contact the company yourself.  For a list of over 900 medications, and how to get them at reduced costs, please check out this website:

Here is information specific to the main anti-depressants out there:

Luvox Solvay Patient Assistance Program 800-788-9277
Prozac Lilly Cares Program 800 -545-6962
Paxil SmithKline Paxil Access To Care Program 800-546-0420 (patient requests)
215-751-5722 (physician requests)
Zoloft Pfizer Indigent Patient Program 800-646-4455
Anafranil Ciba-Geigy Patient Support Program 800-257-3273
908-277-5849
Celexa Forest Laboratories' Indigent Patient Program 800-678-1605 (physician requests)

If you want to know more about anti-depressants in general, and how they help, please check out this site here.

Another great resource for drug information.

As you can tell, I am pretty much pro-medication.  Although I do not advocate it for minor depression, or depressive episodes, some of us absolutely cannot live without it.
